About us

Ethics Untangled is both the long-form online presence of IDEA, the Ethics Centre at the University of Leeds edited by Danielle Bromwich and Luke Brunning and the monthly podcast hosted by Jim Baxter.

IDEA is a vibrant and active centre with longstanding specialisms in applied ethics teaching, research, and consultancy and policy work. Our community buzzes with academic and support staff, PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, visiting fellows, as well as visitors from around the university.

We are a unique hub where ethical expertise is embedded in local, national, and international communities of practice.

You’ll find us wherever teaching and research touches upon ethically important topics, from teaching medical ethics to junior doctors, research ethics to data scientists, or performance ethics to theatre students. Our staff have experience shaping professional codes of ethics, informing policy, and working with industry.

Here we shall be sharing different facets of our work, and making room for longer interviews, staff and student profiles, articles and other forms of content.

If you’re interested in ethics, then welcome! And if you'd like to catch up on past posts, visit the archive.
